Consumers Searching for Best Movers Get New Options
August 12, 2013
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Anyone looking for a quality full-service mover, no matter what the distance, now has expanded online search options following new enhancements to the consumer website of the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA), the national trade association for the professional moving industry.
Visitors to www.moving.org have access to more information than ever before, and can now verify the identity of the mover, find an AMSA member near them, and locate ProMovers for interstate or local moves. The new functions allow visitors to find all nearby AMSA members through a ZIP code search, or they can verify whether that mover is an AMSA member, and possibly a ProMover as well, by searching for a company’s federal motor carrier (MC) number. Before the change, visitors could only search among AMSA’s ProMover members offering long-distance moves, and not by location. Only established, top-quality movers can earn the ProMover certification.
“Expanding our online search means consumers can quickly and easily identify legitimate, honest moving companies close to them, even for a local move, and as a result avoid con artists who don’t play by the rules,” said Linda Bauer Darr, AMSA president and CEO.
Website visitors can look for any AMSA members within a five-mile to a 100-mile radius of their location, depending on which of seven distance levels they choose from a dropdown menu. They can also ensure they are dealing from the start with a member of AMSA, which only accepts movers that meet the organization’s high standards, by entering a company’s MC number issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
AMSA’s consumer website also includes a wealth of useful information and tips, all designed to protect consumers from illegitimate operations out to rip them off. Visitors can also easily identify industry professionals who carry AMSA’s respeccted Certified Moving Consultant or Certified Office and Industrial Consultant credential.
