Build the Next Generation of Leaders in the Moving and Storage Industry with The Leaders Program

Participants Get Knowledge and Skills to Achieve Success from the American Moving & Storage Association

 

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Future leaders of the moving and storage industry can gain the knowledge, skills and tools they need to succeed from The Leaders Program, offered by the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA). Registration is now open for this intensive five-month program aimed at developing the next generation of leaders, regardless of their current role within their company. Participants will learn how to be the most effective leader possible by exploring and developing basic leadership and decision-making skills during weekly, self-guided study. They also will be required to join several conference calls or webinars in their learning group, and must complete a professional development project with input from their supervisors to present to the rest of the class during a two-day seminar at the annual AMSA Education Conference & Expo.

Former program graduates who have gone on to run successful companies, taken leadership roles within the association, or serve on the AMSA Board of Directors will share the leadership lessons they learned along the way. The Leaders Program also covers strategic planning, goal setting, and creating a vision and turning it into reality. Selected reading material will be provided by Leadership Outfitters, AMSA’s partner for the program. Each class is limited to 25 participants.

Applicants must have at least five years of moving industry experience or a college degree, and must have at least two years in a managerial or leadership role. The application deadline is September 30 and must include a business resume, two reference letters—one from an industry peer and one from the CEO—and a brief essay.

According to AMSA President and CEO Scott Michael, a Leaders Program graduate, “In addition to identifying and developing a core group of up and coming leaders, this program benefits the industry by creating loyal, committed, well-informed and well-connected members who can make a positive impact on their peers, companies and communities.”

Graduates of the program will have access to exclusive training opportunities and “Leaders Only” events at AMSA conferences, and will be invited to join Moving Day on the Hill, held every September in conjunction with AMSA’s Fall Board and Committee Meetings in Washington, D.C.
