August 7, 2015
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The American Moving & Storage Association represents national van lines, independent movers and industry suppliers, and serves as the home of the ProMover certification program. Scott Michael, president and CEO, comments on Scott Darling being nominated to head the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
“The American Moving & Storage Association congratulates Scott Darling on his nomination as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Scott has demonstrated strong leadership during his time as both chief counsel and acting administrator of the agency, and we believe that he will be successful in this role as well. While we may not always agree on every issue, we are pleased that he has kept an open mind to the views and concerns of our industry.
Based on our past experience, we are confident that Scott understands the value of the FMCSA having a consumer protection focus to ensure that the agency aggressively enforces its regulations on household goods matters. He understands the issues facing our industry, including the ongoing driver shortage.
We look forward to continuing our work with the FMCSA on a number of issues that affect professional moving companies, such as hours-of-service regulations, improvements to CSA, and fighting moving fraud. Scott understands these issues well and we are confident that he will be successful in leading the FMCSA.”
