Jay's Moving Company of Indianapolis Wins AMSA's Enterprise Award

January 28, 2016

(Alexandria, VA) — Jay's Moving Company of Indianapolis has been named the winner of the 2015 Enterprise Award, presented to an outstanding small independent mover by the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA). The Enterprise Award reflects AMSA's and the industry's commitment to recognizing outstanding performance among small, independent movers, which can be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including community service, employee relations, innovative operations, and exceptional customer service practices. The award honors AMSA mover members with less than $3 million in annual gross revenues and fewer than 25 employees, as selected by a panel of industry experts.

Jay's Moving has been an active member of the Indianapolis community, providing employment opportunities, college assistance and other philanthropic contributions. The company has focused on recruiting college students into the industry by hosting a hiring event and offering tuition reimbursement. In addition, Jay's Moving has an ongoing partnership with the Wheeler Mission in downtown Indianapolis, which is a homeless shelter and food assistance charity that serves underprivileged families and individuals. As part of a bottled water charity event in July 2015, Jay's Moving collected over 55,000 bottles for the Wheeler Mission-30,000 more than the original goal of 25,000.

Jay's Moving supports other Wheeler Mission events, such as the Drumstick Dash, a marathon that supports meals for the homeless at Thanksgiving, and provides employment opportunities for homeless individuals to help workers get back on their feet. The company also supports other local charities like the Shepherd Community Center, Georgia Street and Indy Sports Corp., which encourages youth sport opportunities. All this while the company continues to expand into regional moves and small commercial moves, as well as a storage option called Jay's Bays. Jay's Moving also acquired Moving Dawgs, an Indianapolis moving company founded by firefighters and veterans, to further expand their services.

"Jay's Moving had quite an eventful 2015, with this award as the perfect note to end the year on. We are so grateful to everyone at AMSA who has seen what we do at Jay's and have recognized our work," said Jeff Williams, general manager of Jay's Moving Company. "This award reflects our drive and dedication towards having the great state of Indiana be Moved by Our Service."

"Congratulations to Jay's Moving Company for their achievements and success as an enterprising small mover that makes a big impact on their community," said Scott Michael, AMSA president and CEO. "Jay's Moving has demonstrated a strong commitment to building the next generation of movers as well as helping those less fortunate. The team at Jay's Moving has set high standards for the rest of the industry, and I'm proud to see them honored for their success and dedication."

Each year AMSA recognizes the best performing and highest achieving individuals and companies in the moving and storage industry. Award winners have made significant contributions to the community and enhanced the image of the industry through hard work, dedication to customer service and commitment to quality practices.
