NAIT Donates $50,000 to the Moving & Storage Institute
October 26, 2016
(Alexandria, VA) — The National Association of Independent Truckers (NAIT) Charitable Foundation has just made a generous donation of $50,000 to the scholarship program of the Moving & Storage Institute (MSI). This is the second $50,000 donation that NAIT has made to the MSI in the past eight years. Since the program began in 2008, more than $225,000 in scholarships have been awarded to students interested in pursuing a business career in or related to the household goods moving and storage industry
Scholarship funds are awarded to students interested in pursuing a business career in or related to the household goods moving and storage industry. Traditional academic scholarships benefit the children, families and employees of members of the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) throughout the U.S., who are pursuing a two or four-year degree from a domestic accredited college, university, vocational or technical school.
NAIT was founded in 1981 to serve the needs of independent owner-operators, many of whom serve as professional drivers for moving companies across the nation. "We are very happy to provide this additional funding to help the Moving & Storage Institute further their goals of providing scholarships to worthy recipients from the moving and storage industry," said David King, vice president of association programs for NAIT.
"This is fantastic news and will help us advance the educational aspirations and career goals of many students for years to come," said Jack Griffin, MSI chair and president and COO of Atlas Van Lines. "We cannot thank the National Association of Independent Truckers enough for their generous support of the next generation of business leaders in the moving and storage industry."
