Washington, D.C. Area Provider Takes Top Honors

(Alexandria, VA) — JK Moving Services, a global moving, storage, relocation and logistics enterprise headquartered in metropolitan Washington, D.C., has been named the nation's top independent moving company for 2016 by the American Moving & Storage Association. The company will be presented with the Independent Mover of the Year Award during the AMSA 98th Annual Education Conference & Expo in Palm Springs, Calif., on February 28.

The award, also known as "the Indy," reflects the association's and the industry's commitment to outstanding performance among independent movers as demonstrated through innovative business methods and practices, community involvement, customer service practices, employee relations, and operations that address a current and compelling social or economic issue. The recipient is selected by a panel of industry experts. JK Moving Services previously won this award in 2011 and was honored in 2013, 2014 and 2015 with AMSA Safety Awards for its excellent safety record.

"JK Moving Services has met and exceeded high standards for the industry, and has a long history of success globally. They are an outstanding honoree for this highly-esteemed award," said Scott Michael, AMSA president and CEO. "The moving and storage industry salutes JK Moving Services for its record of innovation, leadership and success. They also have been a leader in corporate social responsibility by supporting many worthwhile charitable causes."

JK Moving Services was founded in 1981 by President and CEO Chuck Kuhn. Today, the company is the third largest independent moving and storage company in North America. JK has been the mover of choice for congressional members, professional athletes and even presidents, including President George W. Bush and President Bill Clinton. JK Moving Services' support of charitable organizations includes Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now), A Wider Circle, All Ages Read Together, Boulder Crest Retreat, and Fight for Children.

"We are excited to be named as the best independent mover across the nation for the second time in our history," said Chuck Kuhn, founder, president and CEO of JK Moving Services. "It is truly an honor to be recognized by your peers, and I am very proud of the professionals at JK Moving Services who deliver exceptional quality and care to our customers."
