Accomplished Congressional Advisor Joins AMSA as VP of Government Affairs

April 24, 2017

AMSA announces that Paul Milotte has joined the association as vice president of government affairs. Paul most recently served as senior policy advisor to Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) after nearly 10 years of working for his office. At AMSA, Milotte will oversee congressional and regulatory outreach and advocacy on behalf of the association’s approximately 3,500 members, representing small family-owned businesses, independent movers and national van lines that operate in communities across the country.

As senior policy advisor for Rep. Young, Paul acted as a trusted transportation and infrastructure expert, building effective coalitions in support of the congressman's priorities. He developed and implemented comprehensive national and regional communications strategies to advance highly visible policy initiatives. Paul also created, promoted and advanced multiple legislative proposals that were adopted into law, including for the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.

"I am pleased to welcome Paul to his new role with the American Moving & Storage Association. He has an impressive background with a wealth of knowledge and experience in transportation issues," said Scott Michael, president and CEO. "The new administration and Congress are working together on a number of proposals to increase infrastructure spending and reduce burdensome regulations on both businesses and consumers. Paul will be an effective advocate for our industry as we work on achieving our legislative and regulatory priorities."

The American Moving & Storage Association, home of the ProMover certification program, is the national trade association representing the nation's moving and storage companies, which provide household goods moving services, specialized transportation for sensitive freight such as computers and trade show exhibits, and warehouse storage services. AMSA has approximately 4,000 members, including domestic and international companies and industry suppliers, and supports programs and activities that promote consumer protection, professional development, safety, and operational efficiency.
