Safety Survey

AMSA's Safety Management Committee gathers and compiles quarterly and annual moving industry safety statistics.  Information provided is combined with that from other van lines and independent carriers to arrive at overall industry statistics.  Individual company data is not released and is treated as confidential and proprietary information.  An annual industry safety report is sent to participating companies.

Information supplied should be for the specified quarter only.  AMSA supplies cumulative results but must have single quarter data to do so.  Mileage reported should be for interstate or intrastate operations conducted under your authority, and mileage should be that incurred by all commercial motor vehicles operated 26,001 pounds GVW and over.  Accidents reported should be DOT recordable incidents involving commercial motor vehicles rated at 10,001 pounds GVW and greater.  For reporting purposes it is immaterial whether an accident is "preventable" or "nonpreventable."  Accidents to be reported are those meeting the definition at 49 CFR 390.5.

Please direct questions about the AMSA Safety Survey to Paul Oakley, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, at poakley@moving.org.   AMSA thanks you for your participation in this important industry effort.
