Moving Season Tips and Tools

Welcome to National Moving Month 2014! AMSA is coordinating a range of activities during May and into the summer season with two major goals:

  • Promote the value to consumers of looking for the ProMover logo when they are shopping for moving services
     
  • Provide you, our members, with suggestions, tips, tools and guidance to promote your company as a ProMover to boost your bottom line.


What we have planned:

  • E-blasts with weekly marketing tips
     
  • Monthly in-depth webinars on specific aspects of marketing. We’ll talk about blogs, best practices, your online reputation and other ways you can make your marketing efforts shine
     
  • A new consumer-facing blog on moving.org on various aspects of the moving process that will be updated at least bi-weekly. We would welcome your contributions to this blog and would encourage you to submit a short article
     
  • Today we begin a Google pay-per-click display ad campaign in 11 markets which had the highest interstate rogue activity last year as reflected by household goods complaints to FMCSA; and in the Washington, D.C. market, where we expect our pro-consumer message to reach lawmakers and regulators. This campaign, which has been funded by a group of our generous members, will send people to special market-specific pages on our consumer website with information about the ProMovers who have contributed
     
  • A series of interviews during May with local radio stations in the markets corresponding to the Google ads
     
  • A joint news release with the Council of Better Business Bureaus urging consumers to be careful when hiring a mover
     
  • Two Moving Month news conferences. The first will be May 6 in Austin, sponsored by the Southwest Movers Association. Speakers will include AMSA President and CEO Linda Bauer Darr and FMCSA Administrator Anne Ferro. The second event will be held May 13 in Indianapolis and will include AMSA Chairman Steve Burns, other industry executives, and representatives of the Illinois and Indiana state moving associations
     
  • A program to recognize the best ProMover marketing efforts during 2014 by our members. Please stay tuned for details on how to enter.
